Academic Professional Bio:
Stephanie is a certified nurse practitioner with over 19 years of experience in providing advanced practice care to patients with a variety of neurosurgical conditions. Her experience includes pre-operative and post-operative care of neurosurgical patients, including first assisting in the operating room. She has particular expertise in Deep Brain Stimulation Therapy, including management and programming.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she held a variety of nursing positions on a neurosurgical unit, the neuro intensive care unit, and was a Trauma Educator and a Neuroscience Clinical Nurse Specialist.
She holds a bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso (1980), a master of science degree in Nursing from the University of Arizona (1990), and post-graduate certificates from ASU as a Family Nurse Practitioner and from the UCLA Extension Program as a Registered Nurse First Assistant.
Stephanie holds certifications from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (Family Nurse Practitioner), the American Association of Neurological Nursing (CNRN), and the American Association of Critical-Care Nursing (CCRN). She has spoken nationally, regionally, and locally on a variety of neurological/neurosurgical topics. She is a current member of the Movement Disorder Society and the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery.
