Academic Professional Bio: 

Nehaw Sarmey is an Assistant Professor and board-eligible neurosurgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Arizona. Dr. Sarmey provides neurosurgical care at Banner University Medical Center - Tucson and is also part of the teaching faculty in the Neurological Surgery Residency Program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson Campus. She completed neurosurgery residency followed by fellowship training in epilepsy surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, and she has expertise in the surgical care of both adult and pediatric patients with difficult-to-treat, medically-refractory epilepsy. She currently works with the multi-disciplinary Arizona Comprehensive Epilepsy Program to provide epilepsy surgery care, including surgical resection, invasive EEG monitoring such as stereo-electroencephalography, awake craniotomy/brain mapping techniques, corpus callosotomy, and neuromodulation treatments. Outside of epilepsy, Dr. Sarmey provides a wide variety of neurosurgical care including treatment of primary brain tumors, brain and spine metastases, normal pressure hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, and degenerative spine disease. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, highest-quality care for her patients.
